Film queue database

The purpose of the film queue database is to allow for remote, collaborative contributions from institutions engaging in preservation microform to provide information on current and upcoming filming of newspapers. This film queue will express the intent of various institutions to film retrospective, current, or continuing materials. This will allow institutions to check to see what has been or will soon be filmed by other institutions, reducing the risk of costly duplication of effort. Secondary benefits include the opportunity to explore cooperative efforts in filming of material, and profiling material that may be available for sale to other interested institutions.

The intended audience is ICON members and other nonprofit, educational, or research institutions with preservation facilities. Commercial micropublishers will also be invited to contribute their records in order to provide more transparent information on items currently being filmed. Expected release of the film queue database is March 2007.
